Snooker Championship Finals Recap: 04/06/25
An evening of close games and camaraderie
The snooker championship finals on June 4, 2025, were a remarkable event, with a lively turnout of 42 members celebrated for their support of the players and the club. Special thanks were extended to Dean and Lisa for hosting the event, providing food, and keeping drinks chilled, as well as Todd for his organization and supply efforts. Gratitude was also expressed to members who handled refereeing and scoring, as well as table owners who made their tables available for the run-up games. The evening included three matches.
Doubles Match
Harry Hanley and Hamish Hanley faced Pat Wools and Bruce Barley in an intense game that swung back and forth. After a tight first frame, Bruce’s 22-point break secured a win for his team. The second frame saw Hamish’s impressive shots stir excitement, culminating with Harry finishing strong to tie the match.
Well now for the deciding frame, so tight and every one had a hand in potting some great balls but we were into the final 2 balls with the Hanley crew 13 points up, Harry had a shot on the pink and it sat in the pocket enabling Pat to sink that and then sink the black, so after 3 frames we are square. There is again a coin thrown into the air and the Hanley’s win the toss and send in Pat and Bruce, after some discussion Pat said to Bruce I will play it safe and asked Bruce what he will do and Bruce stated I will have a go, so that was the decision.
Well Bruce had a go at cutting but missed on the way down but belted the black on the way back off the cushion sending the black around the table and as fate sometimes works it went around the table settling into the pocket just before running out of steam the crowd were ecstatic with the excitement of a close game.
Sad finish for the Harry and Hamish after playing so well, but Pat and Bruce were very excited.
