The Championship Final was a great night, and everyone enjoyed themselves. A big thanks to Lisa and Dean for providing an outstanding venue, with the fire pit roaring to keep those outside warm from the cold. Whoever arranged for the heavy rain to hold off, thank you too.
The matches lived up to the Thunderdome motto of "two men (or pairs) enter, one man (or pair) leaves."
The singles final between Roy and Fluffy went to three frames, and Fluffy emerged as the "Best Snooker Player in Ocean Grove" in 2023.
A great moment in sporting history occurred last night. The black ball was sitting in the jaws of a pocket and it was surrounded by a heap of reds. Both players decided that the game could be over if one of them made a mistake. They made the decision to rerack the frame and start again.
The double final was between Mark and Pete v Pat and Andy. Both teams started off tentatively, not wanting to give the other much of a look in. Mark and Pete prevailed in two frames, making it back to back championships for this pairing (look out 2024).
