Ocean Grove Snooker Club Grand final 2014
The OGSC has been going for 37 years we have 12 teams and play 22 home and away games to sort out the top 8 and then we run our finals with the same process as the AFL.
Over the last 37 years there has not been many Grand Finals as tight as this one.
The grand final was played between Wackers and Cannons and what a night it was, the frames were being won by one team then the other with them 2 all after the first 4, two of those frames where decided on the black ball with the Wackers winning both of them.
The next 2 frames were won by the Wackers taking a 4-2 lead into the final 2 doubles frames.
Note the Cannons had a clear points lead due to loosing the close ones but they now needing to win the last 2 frames.
Well the Cannons then won the next doubles putting points out of the question they just needed to win the last.
The last frame was tightly played with neither side getting a clear break then one hard shot missed on the brown by the Wackers giving the Cannons a chance to finish the colours and take the grand final win this they managed to do and the pink sealed it for them.
Result Frames 4 all, but Cannons win by points.
What a great final well done to all players involved and what a great turn out of members with over 50 spectators’ over the night.
Special mentions, Cannons won from 8th spot on the ladder no easy task, for the last 8 years there has been a different team take out the premiership with the Cannons breaking that streak in the 9th.
