Well the championships were run and won last night with some great snooker.
The night started with semi finals in the singles.
Rob Holt v Peter Kleindienst “Klinga”, closely fought battle with Klinga coming out with a win.
Joe Reece v Mark O’Keefe, again a close battle with Joe finishing with the win.
Next was the championship Doubles.
Mark O’Keefe and Daryl Trippett v Pat Wools and Ralph Allen, Mark came out of the blocks early with a 40 break, this made it hard for Pat and Ralph but they worked their way back into that frame and had chances but Mark and Daryl won the first, the second frame was much the same with Mark and Daryl getting an early lead and not giving it up taking out the second frame and the doubles championship.
Last we had the singles championship with Klinga and Joe.
The snooker was great with some spectacular long pots and tight snooker, Klinga had the first frame in his grasp and made a mistake putting the white in whilst attempting to pot the pink, this led to the opportunity for Joe to steal the frame and he grabbed the opportunity.
Next frame Klinga potted well and got the points on the board early leading all the way leaving little opportunity for Joe to get a big score and Klinga closed that one out so it was one all going into the decider
The last frame was much like the second and Klinga potted well with Joe still in it then the nerves got the better of him and he made a mistake on the Yellow that let Klinga in and he did not miss the opportunity of getting the final frame under his control.
Klinga is our 2014 singles champion well done to all players that had a hit.
A big thank you to Neil and Pauline for the use of their great venue for the finals, much appreciated.
To all the OGSC members that came along thank you also for your support I am sure the players appreciated it.
